The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita said in her welcome address at a Public Service Lecture organized by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in Abuja, also revealed that an innovation unit had been created within the service to pioneer creative ideas and innovation within and outside the federal service.
Oyo-Ita who warned that, it won’t be business as usual where civil servants do the same thing all the time and expect a different result, also called on civil servants to effectively and efficiently work towards actualising the 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan whose overall goal she emphasized is to reform the service through improved staff competencies and adequate job satisfaction.
“In line with the FCSSIP-2020, there is plan by the Office to drive innovation in the Service by establishing Innovation Units across the Service and launching innovation challenge. The PMT on Innovation is driving this process which will set the foundation for an effective innovation culture in the Service”.
“Also line with FCSSIP-2020, the office is implementing a new Performance Management System linking performance to promotion, benefits, recognition and professional development.
The test run for the PMS tool had been conducted in some Departments in OHCSF, Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development and Ministry of Petroleum. Training on objective setting is proposed to help all levels of officers in the Service set their performance objectives”, she said.
