Ticket Man ‘Sells Fake’Bus Rapid Transit Tickets To Commuters

A 22-year-old ticket collector, Blessing Ayomide, who allegedly sold fake Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) tickets to commuters, was yesterday  charged with conspiracy and stealing an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecuting Superintendent Gbemileke Agoi told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 22, at 6:30 p.m., at a BRT bus stop in Ikorodu.

Agoi said the accused printed his own tickets and sold them at lower prices than those of  the Lagos State Government.

“The accused printed fake tickets and sold to commuters at N200 for trips to Costain and CMS, rather than the original price of N250 and N300, respectively,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Code Laws, 2015.  The law stipulates two years imprisonment for the offence.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Makanjuola Oshodi granted him N10,000, bail with one ‘’responsible surety’’ in the like sum.

She adjourned the case till January 22.
