Saraki, Atiku Urge Osun Voters To Stop APC Rule
The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have asked the people of Osun State to stop their suffering by voting for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday.
The duo spoke in Osogbo on Wednesday during the mega rally of the PDP ahead of the Saturday governorship election holding in the state.
Saraki, who recently returned to the PDP, said Osun State was the worst in terms of unpaid salaries, saying there was nowhere in the country where workers were owed salaries for three years.
He urged the people to vote for Adeleke and protect their votes to prevent election riggers from truncating the will of the people.
He said, “For the past three years, the APC government in Osun State has refused to pay salaries to workers. Is that performance? They say you should vote for continuity, will you do that?
“All over Nigeria, things are not this bad. Even in the North-East where there is Boko Haram insurgency, their governors have not stopped paying salaries. This is not about us, it is about the people of Osun; they must send their message through their votes on Saturday.”
Atiku also urged the people of the state to vote for the candidate of the PDP and protect their votes to stop ballot thieves from stealing their votes.
Atiku said, “Security agents, don’t connive with INEC to rig this election. I am asking you, people of Osun State, go with your cameras. They want to rig the election and that is why the INEC is banning cameras.”
Atiku, who is one of the presidential aspirants, said that he was optimistic that Adeleke would win the election in the state.
He charged people of the state to come out en masse and vote for Adeleke and also urged them to stay behind and protect their votes.
“You must protect your votes, otherwise they will steal them. Don’t allow them to do what they did in Ekiti. You will win the election on Saturday.”
A former governorship aspirant of the PDP, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, asked the people of the state to vote for Adeleke as the governor, saying his emergence would mark the end of their years of suffering and hardship
One of the members of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun, called on the leadership of the Social Democratic Party; Action Democratic Party; African Democratic Congress to ask their chapters in Osun State to respect the memorandum of understanding they signed in Abuja.
He said if these parties failed to respect this MoU in Osun State, it might be difficult to recognise them if the PDP won the presidential election.
Adeleke said he was confident of winning the election while urging the people of the state to put an end to their suffering by voting for him.
Ademola said, “The suffering is too much. Today is the end of APC in Osun because they have done so badly. The PDP is ready to beautify the state. Everything about the APC in Osun State is a lie and that is why I, Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, have brought light to the state.
“You will give us the time to pay the money they owe. Our economy is so bad, all the money they have borrowed, about N350bn or more. The youth are our soldiers that day, you must not drink (alcohol) so that you will not sleep on Saturday.”
