Osinbajo Urges States To Create More Jobs Via Agriculture

Vice President Yemi Osinba­jo on Tuesday led a meeting on work creation utilizing agriculture and agribusiness esteem chain, with gover­nors of Jigawa and Kebbi States in participation.

The meeting held at the workplace of the Vice-president, who charged the governors to accomplish more to help the ef­forts of the Federal Gov­ernment.

Emerging from the meeting, Jigawa gov­ernor, Badaru , said it focused on “how we will mobilise youths to go into agriculture and agriculatural services including production, retailing and wholesale.

“There is a new deci­sion that states should endeavour to support the Federal Govern­ment, or in partnership with the Federal Gov­ernment in empower­ment, helping the youths in agriculture and agri­culture value chain.”

Similarly, Kebbi Gov­ernor, Abubakar Bagu­du, said the potential of job creation through ag­riculture could not be ig­nored at this time, which was why the meeting stressed the need to have more hands on deck.

“The potential of agri­culture has been recog­nised .land and people are in the states. Partner­ship between the Federal and state government will do more and that has been recognised.
