NYSC Trains 1,780 On Entrepreneurial Skills In Anambra

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has trained not less than fewer 1, 780 of 2,127 in 2018 Batch A corps members mobilised to Anambra in its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. NYSC members Mrs Ify Nwafor, an Assistant Director in the NYSC in Anambra, said on Thursday in Awka that the 10-day training programme was a project under the scheme designed to equip prospective job seekers with relevant economic skills and turn them to job creators. Nwafor said the areas they were trained in include Food Processing, Information Communications Technology (ICT), Cosmetology, Photography, Film Production, 3D Tiling and Agro production. Others were bag and bead making, shoes and leather works, power and energy. Nwafor, who is Head of SAED programme, said there were viable financial options for committed and entrepreneural inclined corps members in the Bank of Industry (BoI) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). She, however, decried the inability of trainees to come up with bankable business plans and proposals. Nwafor said it was unfortunate that of the number of persons that applied in the last batch only 39 were considered worthy of financing by the banks. She urged graduates to learn the skills of drafting feasibility studies and business proposals for them to be able to benefit from the programme. Mr Ebenezer Olawale, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, congratulated the trainees and urged them to go for follow up training as lessons learnt during the programme would not be enough to carry them on. Olawale said they should register with training centres collaborating with the NYSC in their area of primary assignment for post-camp mentorship. (NAN)
