Man Allegedly Steals N20m Motor Spare Parts, Risks 10-Year Jail
A 31-year-old man, Ezekiel Bamboye, who allegedly broke into a company and stole motor spare parts worth N20m, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Bamboye, whose address was not provided, is facing four counts of break-in, conspiracy, breach of peace and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Akadu, told the court that Bamboye committed the offences with others still at large, on October 12, at about 1:00 AM., at Touring Stimulator Nigeria Ltd., on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos.
Akadu said the accused broke into the company and stole motor spare parts worth N20 million, property of Touring Stimulator Nigeria Ltd.
“Bamboye broke into the company in the early hours of the morning and stole the items, ‘’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 411, 168 and 390 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Correspondent reports that Section 287 stipulates a seven-year jail term for stealing, while Section 390 provides three years for break-in.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr. K. O. Ogundare, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ogundare said that the surety should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until November 20 for mention.
