Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has lambasted President Mohammadu Buhari over his remark that Nigerian Army was soft on soldiers of the South East during the Biafra civil war.
Speaking in Abuja, yesterday, Buhari had explained that the Nigerian Army was soft on “Biafrans” during the Civil War because the then Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, issued strict instructions to the army, that Biafrans were not enemies but “brothers and sisters of the rest of Nigerians”.
Reacting to Buhari’s remark, the National Leader of BNYL, Princewill Richard insisted that Buhari was “wrong” and “lied” despite that he is fasting.
In a statement, the BNYL leader recalled how a Nigerian captain, Benjamin Adekunle allegedly ordered his battalion to shoot at every movable objects during the civil war.
Richard, however, warned that no amount of lies will stop the agitations for the actualisation of Biafra.
The statement reads, “Buhari is wrong, he should confess and be free from troubles of nature, I thought Muslims don’t lie especially when on fasting, We have been told many stories about the war, I have also come across the documentaries showing Benjamin Adekunle who was nicknamed the ‘Black Scorpion’ ordering troops to shoot at any movable objects in Biafra.
“Buhari himself was also a key participant in that war, he is only trying to please the irrelevant Yakubu Gowon”.
Richard said the blockade of Biafra by Nigerian government is an evidence that the “Biafrans were treated badly.”
“It is evidence in the blockades of our airlines and seas, his old age has become worst that he has suddenly forgotten the Asaba massacre by Nigerian Army.
“Has he forgotten that it was Gowon that declared war under the pretence of Police action just as himself declared a Shoot at sight under the pretence of Python Dance 11 against peaceful demonstrators, he must be suffering from old age sickness,” he added.
