Court Stops PDP from Suspending Governor Wike, Others

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not allowed to suspend or deport Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State or other PDP state executive members over suspected anti-party conduct, according to a Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to Justice Inyang Ekwo’s ruling, Wike and other PDP members had valid concerns, and suspending or expelling them would violate their right to freedom of association.

The judge concluded by saying that the court has the authority to award compensation to those whose actions have a history of constituting a violation of their rights.

According to the judgment, political party members cannot be suspended without cause if the rules of the party are followed.
