Ambode Trains Ward Agents For Governor Primary
In readiness for Saturday’s direct primary election, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s team has approved training for 1,960 residents that will serve as agents in all the 245 wards in the 20 local government areas where the primary election is expected to take place.
The training was said to have been approved after the inauguration of the Ambode Campaign Organisation coordinators and offices in the three senatorial districts in the state with outposts across the 20 LGAs.
A press release on Thursday from the Directorate of Media and Strategy of ACO said the agents had been selected and would be trained “to be the eyes and ears of Governor Ambode as the candidate of choice in the primary election.”
The statement read in part, “While being vigilant and uncompromising, the agents have been tutored to conduct themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner as loyal members of the All Progressives Congress who want the best for the party and for democracy by ensuring that the best candidate emerges on a level playing ground.”
Ambode had on Wednesday reiterated his intention to participate in Saturday’s primary election in line with the preference of the party.
The statement added that the governor’s position led to jubilation among supporters of the governor who believed that he deserved a second term in office to consolidate his socio-infrastructural achievements.
In his declaration on Wednesday, Ambode had stated his intention to seek re-election with a pledge to give open and deeper attention to the concerns of the party.
The statement added that special interest groups in Lagos APC had been endorsing the governor’s candidacy since he declared his intention to participate in the primary.
