75 Per Cent Of Nigerian Women Use Skin-lightening Creams – REPORT

A new report has revealed that 75 per cent of Nigerian women use skin-lightening creams.

This was revealed in a special report done by CNN on the issue of skin lightening.

The report, which showed that women all over the globe account for an estimated 80 per cent of the sale of skin-whitening products worldwide, tapped Nigeria for the top spot compared to three other countries in West Africa.

Following on the heels of Nigeria are Senegal, where 60 per cent of the women lighten their skin, Mali follows with 50 per cent and only 30 per cent of Ghanaian women use skin-lightening creams (skin whitening products are banned in Ghana but thrive on the black market).

The data was taken from the International Journal of women’s Dermatology.

The report revealed that on the global stage, the Asia-Pacific market accounted for over half of the worldwide revenue in 2018 from skin whitening products. Meanwhile, China is among the fastest-growing markets globally.
