33-Year-old Remanded For Alleged Cultism

A 33-year-old man, Emeka Walson has been remanded in prison custody for alleged Cultism by a Chief Magistrates Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He allegedly a member of Iceland cult were he reportedly participated in the activities with others presently on the run.
They committed the offence at Omueke, Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state on June 27, 2018.
Walson is charged with a two-count charge bothering on cult related activities.
The charge was not read out to him, the court said he lacks jurisdiction to hear the matter.

The prosecutor, Inspector Wilson Isaiah told the court that his offence breaches section 1 (1) and 7 (c) of the secret cult and similar activities (prohibition) laws of Rivers State No.6 of 2018 as amended.
The presiding Magistrate, Sokari Andrew-Jaja ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison custody and his case file be remitted to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned the case till December 21, for DPP’s advice.
