Security Operatives Temporarily Take Over Oyigbo After IPOB And Soldiers Clash
The ethnic violence which erupted in Oyigbo, a town very close to Port Harcourt in Rivers state on Tuesday which led to the burning of a mosque, has seen security agents take over the area.
According to Punch newspaper, Nigerian security operatives have taken over some parts of Oyigbo Local Government Area, especially around Timber Junction where there was a clash between soldiers and some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra on Tuesday.
It was gathered that the security operatives, who were mainly policemen, also embarked on stop-and-search in order to forestall a repeat of the crisis.
Calm has, however, returned to the area after the clash that lasted for about an hour on Tuesday.
